Capitol Presence is Going Pink!
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Capitol Presence is going pink in support of the cause. As the most common cancer to effect women in the United States, 1 in 8 women develop breast cancer in their lifetime. In addition, women are diagnosed on average every 2 mins in the US.
Why do we want to help raise awareness?
Too many lives have been touched and affected by cancer in general. The least we can all do is help spread awareness in hopes that more treatments and cures be discovered.
This cause is also near and dear to our hearts as breast cancer is mainly diagnosed in women (yes, although rare, men can also get breast cancer). Capitol Presence is a proud Woman Owned Small Business and we actively support all women. One of our specific missions is to get more women involved in tech as the field currently lacks gender diversity. So, we most certainly want to help break down any and all barriers that stand in the way of success for women.
Why are Women in Tech Needed?
It is no secret that women are underrepresented in Tech. Additionally, only 5% of tech companies in the United States are owned by women. In recent years, more light has been shed on the lack of female representation in the field. However, women are still far outnumbered. We don’t need women in tech simply because they are women. We need women in tech because of all the benefits and innovation they bring to the table.
5 Reasons We Need Women in Tech:
- Diversity of thought leads to better problem-solving.
- More women in corporate leadership roles lead to increased revenue.
- The ability to tap into the largest single economic force in the world: American women.
- An entire marketplace lacks Tech-driven innovation.
- The U.S. needs more Tech talent. End of story.
